I'm Sam, the painter behind Artificer Miniatures. I've been painting miniatures since 1998, and professionally since 2017. I love bringing people's armies to life.
I operate out of a small studio in the mountains of Vermont, where we have a strong gaming community. I discovered Warhammer 40,000 on a family vacation to Bath, England. I remember passing by a small Games Workshop store and being captivated by the armies on display. Since then, I’ve been hooked on mini painting, honing my skills year after year.
For me, the hobby is just as much about the art as it is the gaming. I realize however, that those are two polar opposite ends of the hobby, both requiring a massive amount of dedication to perfect.
My clients are people who value playing games with beautifully painted miniatures, but also value their time. Between work, family, and other responsibilities, we might only have one afternoon a week to fit in a game. That's hardly enough time to build and paint an army to the standard we're looking for.
Life is too short to play with unpainted miniatures, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to help gamers field beautiful, fully painted armies that bring their personal vision to the tabletop.

About My Process
Knowing your army and artistic vision are in good hands is everyone’s top priority when entering a commission. That’s why I make my commission process as transparent as possible. Below are the steps I’ll take your commission through to ensure you get an end result you’re thrilled with.
Quote: The first step is requesting a free quote. Simply fill out the form with your information, what miniatures you’d like painted and at what painting level. I’ll respond with a quote detailing the pricing for each miniature or squad at the levels you’ve requested, as well as an estimated timeline. If you’d like to make changes, just let me know!
Accepting the Quote & Deposit: If you’d like to move forward with the project just let me know! I’ll send you instructions on paying the 50% up front deposit to reserve your space.
Collecting the Miniatures: If you already have the miniatures for your project you can send them to my studio, alternatively I’ll purchase them on your behalf. If there are any special components we need I’ll start collecting them.
Assembly and Painting: I’ll begin painting your miniatures, sending you work-in-progress shots by email along the way, generally once a week. These communications are an important way to let you know your project is on track. We can also address any changes or other ideas you have during this stage.
Final Photos and Approval: Once the minis are in a finished state, I’ll send you photos for you to assess. If there are any changes you’d like made feel free to request them and I’ll address them.
Final Payment: Once the project is approved, you can send the remaining 50% of the payment to initiate shipping.
Packaging and Shipping: Your minis will be packed securely and snugly and shipped to your address. I’ll provide a tracking number so you know when to expect them.
Enjoy! Once you have your painted minis, let them loose on the tabletop or enshrine them in your display case. You now possess a thrilling piece of miniature art that is sure to impress. These are yours to enjoy and appreciate for years to come.
